Dr. Sean Healy is an honorably discharged U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander. He has been changing lives through the power of dentistry since 2006. He initially practiced in Texas, handling complex facial trauma cases for emergency patients. His skill and consistency allowed him to rise to the position of partner at Brazos Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Despite his success, our surgeon wanted change. Dr. Healy chose to come to Santa Fe to enjoy a better lifestyle and to focus on what he loves to do most — place life-changing dental implants. As the owner of the Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center of Santa Fe, he is able to set his own standards for quality of care, patient comfort, and more.

Dr. Sean Healy’s Education, Expertise, and Family Life

Dr. Sean Healy graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1994. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1999, where he graduated fifth in his class. Following dental school, Dr. Healy completed his General Practice Residency at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth in 2000 and later his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2006. To further refine his expertise, he completed an Oral Implantology Fellowship at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas/California Implant Institute.

A respected professional in his field, Dr. Healy is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) and both a member and fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). His dedication to advancing oral surgery and implant dentistry has led him to co-author multiple articles in esteemed publications such as the Texas Dental Journal and the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Healy’s family life is central to who he is. His beloved wife, Rebecca, serves as the office manager at their Santa Fe practice, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for every patient. Together, they are raising two daughters who share their love for the outdoors. The Healy family enjoys hiking, skiing, gardening, and spending quality time together throughout the year. Their home is also full of life, with three dogs, two cats, and three aquariums of fish. Their daughters often suggest adding more pets to the mix, keeping Sean and Rebecca on their toes and constantly finding creative reasons not to expand their already lively menagerie.

My son had his wisdom teeth removed by Dr Hurtado. He had absolutely no swelling or pain whatsoever after the procedure. He even stopped taking pain medicine after the first day, as he stated he did not have any pain and didn't need it. I am truly impressed with this staff and procedure done at this office. Dr Diego Hurtado and his office and staff are just wonderful. Dr Hurtado answered all my many questions respectfully and with much patience and kindness. The extraction went well and the healing process also. He saw me for a follow up. He even noted that I should check out an unrelated tooth with my local dentist which turned out to have a cavity. I woke up from the procedure without any pain and I only needed one dose of the medication prescribed for the recovery period. Dr. Healy has performed surgical wisdom teeth removal on both my teenagers and they both had a positive experience. I noticed that even within one years time he changed his practice so when it came to my daughter we followed her regime as given and her recovery went even better than my son's. Dr. Healy has a great patient manner and develops trust with his patients. He takes his time and explains things very well. Thank you Dr. Healy for doing such a great job with both my children.
